"Ear Buddies"

Calling all girls out there who have been victims of the brutal violence from their hair straighteners. Though pain is beauty, there is absolutely NO reason why one should fall victim to nasty burns on their ears from trying to get that one hard to reach stubborn section of hair to fall to straight perfection. Lets face it, we have all carelessly clipped the side of our ear at least once... or twice... ok, maybe even three times, and you probably muttered a few unfriendly words to your straightening friend. Well it gives me great pleasure to inform you that those frustrating, ear burning mornings have seen their last days, for I have found the solution!

For the entrepreneurship project, I propose "Ear Buddies," tightly fitting heat-resistant covers that are made to be placed over and around ears to prevent accidental burning from hair straighteners. Essentialy, a small cotton-synthetic sack with elastic drawstrings would be placed over the top of the ear and pulled down to cover the bottom and sides--extra elastic hanging from the bottom can be pulled to give the sack a tighter fit. Because we all have different ear sizes I would make them in varying sizes so there is no extra bulk for those with small ears and is not too tight for those with larger ears. Also, to make the product more marketable, "Ear Buddies" will come in different colors and designs.

I believe that this product would sell because it addresses and solves a beauty "issue" of sort that has existed for many years and many burns. Whether it be a mother attempting to de-kink her squirming daughters hair, or a half-awake college student carelessly straightening her hair in the dark as to not wake up her roommate, this product caters to all women and girls of all ages with different ear shapes and sizes. The question now becomes, will you use protection.... for your ears?

  2. I really like this idea! I too have been a victim of hair straightener burns on my ears, and with ear buddies, you can be worry-free while straightening your hair. I do have a suggestion though, maybe you can consider expanding your product to protect other body parts than just your ears! I know I also get burned on my neck and fingertips, so maybe your ear buddies can be apart of a colelction? Just a thought.

    Really good idea!

  3. It’s a shame men don’t have stuff like this! I guess we just don’t give as much thought to our appearance, but I can connect and participate in this! This is me learning! :) Girls are really good at covering up whatever mistakes they make in appearance because I have always just assumed they always looked nice all the time! “Ear Buddies” sounds so nice and welcoming and pleasant—and they are! I like the choice we have in ear size—I have small ears for a guy (though I don’t have long enough hair to use these—darn). Burns—ouch! Please to those reading, pursue Ear Buddies—protect your ears!

  4. This is a great idea! As a guy, I have never experienced this burn, but obviously it is very painful. Your idea is useful for girls/women of all ages who straighten their hair. I know both of my sisters have done this - at home, I've heard their screams from my room. Your writing style is very effective in showing the great qualities your product has to offer.

  5. Very catchy, Meg! I could definitely use these, and I feel like it would definitely be successful at any age group. Even to the older crowd who maybe uses curling irons or something too. It would be cool if they were sound resistant too, then salons could use them or people who blow dry their hair too. Great idea, definitely marketable!
